Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow weather warning for the entire country.
The alert is for low temperatures and ice and comes into effect from 6pm this evening until 10am tomorrow morning.
Temperatures will fall to -3C or -4C tonight, colder locally away from coasts.
This will lead to a widespread hard ground frost and icy surfaces, with potentially dangerous conditions, Met Éireann warned.
A small craft warning has also been issued.
North to northeast winds will reach Force 6 at times today and tonight on Irish coasts from Carlingford Lough to Carnsore Point to Roches Point.
