Hwang Hee-chan of Wolverhampton Wanderers was forced to leave the pitch after suffering a hamstring injury in an away match against Brighton on Wednesday.
After making a strong impression earlier in the season by scoring four goals, Hwang has been suffering a slump in form.
He has not scored for six consecutive matches, and started on the bench for last week’s match against Manchester City.
Hwang needed to prove his worth in Wednesday’s game, but in the fifth minute felt pain in his right thigh after blocking an opposing player. He received treatment on the field, but was eventually replaced after playing just 16 minutes.
Wolverhampton won the game 1-0.
No announcement has yet been made about the extent of the injury, but damage to thigh muscles typically takes a while to heal.
